Description
This collection contains materials collected by Dick Hitt from 1978-2008 documenting gay and lesbian employees of the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California, as well as LGBT news and events in the Orange County area and beyond. Included are newsletters, fliers, reports, brochures, photographs, correspondence, and printed and non-printed ephemera. Many records document the activities of the PRIDE organization at the Disneyland Resort and other Disney Diversity Resource Group events and publications.
Background
Dick Hitt is a retired employee of the Disneyland Resort Finance Department in Anaheim, California, and active member of the LGBT community of Orange County. While at Disney in the mid-1990s, Hitt served as historian for Lesbian and Gay United Employees (LEAGUE), a Diversity Resource Group of the Resort. He later became a member of the core team of People Respecting Individual Diversities in Everyone (PRIDE), a Diversity Resource Group developed in the early 2000s that held its first meeting in 2006. Hitt has also contributed to the Orange County Historical LGBT Timeline project started by Barbara Muirhead in 1995.
