Biography
Paul V. Priolo, Republican, was a State Assembly Member, 1967-1980. He represented the 60th District that included cities
in Los Angeles County and Ventura County. After redistricting his Assembly district became the 38th.
Priolo was born on July 14, 1927 in San Francisco, California. He served in the United States Navy during World War II and
received a B.A. degree in Political Science-Public Administration from the University of California, Berkeley. He owned and
operated a retail establishment before his election. Assembly Member Priolo and his first wife, Anna Lee, had two children:
Jeffrey and Jan. He later married Beate Engel. After retiring from the Legislature, he had his own lobbying and government
relations business.
Assembly Member Priolo's community and civic affiliations included such positions and organizations as Secretary, Republican
Caucus; President of Santa Monica Junior Chamber of Commerce; Member of Chamber of Commerce; Santa Monica Mall Committee Chair;
Member of National Conference of State Legislators; Board Member of Councilors of the Center for Public Policy at USC; Member
of Pacific Palisades Community Council; San Fernando Valley Business and Professional Association Member; and Vice President
and President of National Republican Legislators' Association.
Priolo was elected to the State Assembly in 1966. During his term in the Legislature, he served as Minority Floor Leader 1976-1979.
