History

Historical Note

The three-masted schooner SADIE was built at Fairhaven, Calif., by Bendixsen in 1890 for Joseph Knowland owner of the Gardiner Mill Company. She then was sold in 1916 to Geo. A. Moore & Company, who resold her in 1921 to Philippine owners. She was owned until 1929 in Cebu and Manila.

Custodial History

The photographs were donated to the San Francisco Maritime Museum, date unknown. Golden Gate National Recreation Area acquired the collection from the Museum when it became a unit of GGNRA, and they were transferred to San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park under the blanket accession SAFR-00001.

This is a collection of 3 (8 x 10 in.) black-and-white photographic prints of the three-masted schooner SADIE, taken from her deck.
One photograph is looking towards her bow from approximately the wheel while she was in port, while the other two photographs were taken looking towards the stern, one while she was in port, the other at sea. The photographer is not identified.
