with signatures of Abraham Lincoln, President of the United States, and John Palmer Usher,
Secretary of the Interior.
Background
Abraham Lincoln, 16th President of the United States, was born February 12, 1809, in Hardin
County, Kentucky. He was assassinated on April 14, 1865, at Ford's Theatre in Washington by
John Wilkes Booth.
