Scope and Content Note

Arrangement

Arranged hierarchically.
Includes letters to and from his parents, Ross and Mary Brower, siblings, Ralph, Joe and Elizabeth, and various aunts, nieces and nephews. Much of the correspondence dates from 1935-1943, describing Brower's early work as the publicity manager for the Yosemite Park & Curry Co. and training during the war at Camp Hale in Colorado. Box 1, containing correspondence with immediate family, has been returned to the Brower family.

Includes correspondence with many servicemen from the 10th Mountain Division, during and after the war; fellow climbers and mountaineers concerning trip planning, equipment, etc.; correspondence during his stay at Yosemite (leading outings); and as editor of the Yodeler. Also included is ongoing correspondence with friends regarding travel plans, politics, and family news; and letters of support and admiration from various people. Letters addressed to David and Anne Brower are also included here.
