Scope and Content Note

Oka Shigeki [characters] (1878-1959). Mover, printer, newspaper publisher, socialist, and author. A native of Kochi Prefecture. Employed by the Yorozu Choho before arriving in America in 1902. Operated the Kinmon Press in San Francisco and published the Amerika Shimbun and Ofu Nippo [Sacramento Daily News]. Interned at Heart Mountain but released to work for the United States government in India during World War II.
