Purchase and donation from various sources, mainly in the late 1960s and 1970s.

Scope and Content of Collection

The collection mainly contains latter 1960s and early 1970s US newspapers, with an emphasis on California, but also some foreign titles. In most cases there are only single or scattered issues, not long runs. Included are newspapers devoted to African American, anti-war, Chicano/Latino, environmental, feminist, gay/lesbian, literary/poetry, radical/conservative, and religious themes and issues.
