Biography

Stanley S. Siegfus (1901-1986) was born in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was a mining consultant, geologist, and engineer. He worked for companies such as Shell Oil Company, Kettleman North Dome Association, Western States Gasoline Company, and Socony-Vacuum Oil Company.
He was married to Alice Elizabeth Rae.

Scope and Content

This collection documents the career of Stanley S. Siegfus from his early days at Elmer Oil Company in 1929 and later career at Socony-Vacuum Oil Company in 1939. The bulk of the collection consists of printed maps and diagrams related to mining and drilling in Central California. Maps and diagrams are also found in the subject files, which include, but not limited to correspondence, logs, memos, notes, notices, and photographs.
The bulk of the correspondence are faint carbon copies from Siegfus to a person named, “Mac”. These letters span from 1934 through 1939. Mac appears to be a colleague working in the same field as Siegfus.
Companies represented in this collection include: Associated Oil Company, Getty Oil Company, Marland Oil Company, Ohio Oil Company, Pan American Petroleum Company, Seaboard Oil Company, Standard Oil Company, and Taft Well Drilling Company.
Note: The specific subject of a folder, when provided by Siegfus’ original folder description, is provided.
