Russell Benedict, lawyer, justice of the Supreme Court of New York (1911-1925), and collector of Americana specializing in
early American law. His collections were sold at various auctions from 1908 to 1922.
Autographs of the New York governors, from Wouter van Twiller to William Tryon, gathered by the Hon. Russell Benedict. The
collection includes warrants, licenses, land patents, deeds, addresses and proclamations, certificates of administrations,
approvals, authorizations, and orders.
