Biographical/Historical note
Ebria Feinblatt (1913-1990) was the first curator of prints and drawings at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art where she
worked from 1947 to 1985. She studied, collected and wrote on topics ranging from ancient art to German Gothic to modern art,
but she was best known for her studies in Bolognese seventeenth-century quadrature painting. She wrote a number of art books
including:
Drawings in the Collection of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (1970),
Toulouse-Lautrec and his Contemporaries: Posters of the Belle Epoque from the Wagner Collection (1985),
and Seventeenth-Century Bolognese Ceiling Decorators (1992). Upon her death, her brother Ronn Marvin donated her personal papers and other gifts to LACMA.
Scope and Contents note
The 3 boxes (1.2 linear feet) that comprises this collection contains research papers including manuscripts, research, clippings,
photographs, and notes. The personal papers in this collection include correspondence, poems, notebooks, diaries, ephemera,
photographs, gifts to museums, and personal items of Ebria Feinblatt. The items range in date from 1929-1991.

The Getty Research Institute: Special Collections (collection number 970034) hold a collection of Ebria Feinblatt’s research
papers documenting her studies in seventeenth-century Bolognese ceiling painting and the development of quadrature illusionistic
painting.
