Daniel Payton Fuller gave the materials in this collection to the Fuller Theological Seminary Archives in 2004.

Biography/Administrative History

Daniel Payton Fuller was born on August 28, 1928 in Los Angeles, California, the only child of Charles Edward Fuller and Grace Payton Fuller. After returning from Basel in late 1962, he was appointed to the office of Dean of the Faculty and served as Associate Professor of Hermeneutics at Fuller Seminary from 1963 to 1972. In 1972 he left the Dean's office and returned to full-time teaching as Professor of Hermeneutics. He became the senior professor of Hermeneutics on September 1, 1993 and retired from his fulltime teaching position that same year, at the age of 68. He was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Divinity degree in 1993. Dan Fuller’s training and experience also include much in the field of practical Christian work. From 1946 until his father’s death in March 1968, he assisted him in the broadcast of the Old Fashioned Revival Hour. He also worked for a year in producing ‘The Old Fashioned Meeting’, the television counterpart to the radio broadcast. In addition to several years’ experience in various kinds of church work, he also engaged in collegiate evangelism with Campus Crusade for Christ. He was also Assistant Director of the Gospel Broadcasting Association, under whose auspices the Old Fashioned Revival Hour sent forth the gospel to an international audience weekly. He was appointed as president of the Fuller Evangelistic Association in 1968.

The Papers of Daniel Payton Fuller, 1928-2000 document the life and ministry of Daniel Payton Fuller, son of the founder of Fuller Theological Seminary, Charles E. Fuller. The collection includes personal family background materials, and documents Dan Fuller's education and work as Faculty member and Dean at Fuller Seminary. The bulk of the collection’s materials are dated between 1946 and 1996. The collection also includes papers related to his work as Assistant Director of the Gospel Broadcasting Association and as President of the Fuller Evangelistic Association. Records include Dr. Dan Fuller's course materials, sermons, correspondence, writings, Fuller Seminary administrative papers, biographical documents, photos, and clippings, and a small collection of audio tapes related to his ministry.
