Ms. Lynn Holton earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism and psychology from the Newhouse School of Communications at Syracuse
University, New York. She was hired by The Recorder, a San Francisco Bay Area legal newspaper, early in her career and went
on to become the newspaper's first female managing editor. Following her employment with The Recorder, Ms. Holton joined the
Administrative Office of the Courts where she served as Public Information Officer from 1982 through 2012. In this capacity,
she supported media relations for the Chief Justice of California, the California Supreme Court, the Judicial Council, the
California Courts of Appeal and the Commission on Judicial Appointments. During her tenure she helped establish a fully staffed
Public Information Office and participated in the creation and implementation of projects designed to improve public understanding
of the courts.

is prohibited and will result in immediate withdrawal of permission to use the collections. Permission to copy materials in
Special Collections and Archives must be requested in advance and in writing.
