Barré Lyndon, also known as Alfred Edgar, was a British-born journalist, playwright, novelist, and
short-story writer. In the early 1940s he established himself in Hollywood as a freelance screenwriter.
Lyndon's best-known screenwriting credits include THE LODGER (1944), HANGOVER SQUARE (1945), THE GREATEST
SHOW ON EARTH (1952), and THE WAR OF THE WORLDS (1953). In the 1960s he wrote for a number of television
series.

The Barré Lyndon papers span the years 1930-1972 (bulk 1950s-1960s) and encompass 14 linear feet. The
collection includes copies of most of Lyndon's screenplays, a fair sampling of his scripts for
television, and a smattering of his stage plays and short stories.
