Biographical Information
Samuel K. Garrett (1913-2003) was a mining engineer based mainly in Idaho. He graduated from the New Mexico School of Mines
in 1935 and worked for a range of mining companies, including the Coronado Copper and Zinc Company and the Sunshine Mining
Company.

Scope and Content of Collection
Collection consists primarily of reports Samuel K. Garrett produced during his career as a mining engineer from the late 1930s
through the early 1980s. Also included is a small amount of professional and personal correspondence and some personalia from
Garrett's student days at the New Mexico School of Mines. There is a substantial collection of mine maps, drawings and plans
produced during the course of Garrett's work. The bulk of the reports in the collection document mines in Washington, Idaho,
and Montana.

Files from Samuel K. Garrett's work with the Coronado Copper and Zinc Company (a subsidary of Cyprus Mines Corporation) in
Wallace, Idaho. Garrett worked as a manager of exploration in the Northwestern United States, Yukon Territory, and Alaska.
Files include correspondence and reports on mining properties throughout the territories overseen by Garrett. A substantial
number of files are on mining properties in Alaska.
