A collection of photographs taken
approximately 1942 of Southern California structures built in the late 19th century.
Huntington Library curator William A. Parish took the photographs to accompany a proposed
book on regional architecture, and his typescript draft is also part of the
collection.
Background
William A. Parish (1906-1982) held several positions at the Huntington Library, rising to
Acting Art Curator and Curator of Prints. He authored a number of Huntington Library
exhibition catalogs, including one on English eighteenth-century architecture, published in
1941.
