Abstract: This collection contains one album with photographs and newspaper clippings related to the Manzanar incarceration camp, Santa Fe Japanese Baseball team, and the Koyasan Buddhist Temple in Los Angeles. It also contains oversized photographs of Japanese interior design. Most of this collection is digitized and available online.

Scope and Contents

The Manzanar Photo Album (1942-1945; undated) contains one album with photographs and newspaper clippings related to the Manzanar incarceration camp, World War Two, and Japanese interior design. The photographs in the collection contain images of life at the camp and include photographs of sports teams, funerals, barracks, and other images. The other oversized photographs in the album are of Japanese tea rooms and gardens.

Processing Information for Digitized Materials

The Gerth Archives and Special Collections created digitalized reproductions from the original material for long-term preservation and access. These preservation files (1.97 Gb, 30 tif files) were scanned to and stored on the Gerth Archives and Special Collections Deparment Drive. Scope and Contents

The photo album contains 16 photographs of the Manzanar incarceration camp, the Santa Fe Japanese Baseball Team, and a photograph of a welcome party for Dr. Furukochi. It also contains 12 oversized Japanese interior design photographs with the Japanese language on the bottom of the image and seven newspaper clippings from the Los Angeles Examiner and other newspapers.
