Background
Lillian Bonham was an artist who grew up in New Jersey in the late 19th century and spent some time with family in Colorado right after the turn of the century. Lillian met Sadakichi Hartmann in the summer of 1907 and came to live with him. They spent time in New York and settled in southern California.
