    Biographical note

Jerry Weintraub was born on September 26, 1937, in Brooklyn, New York, to Rose and Sam Weintraub. He began his career as a talent manager for MCA Records in the 1950s and worked with such artists as Joey Bishop, The Four Seasons, Jack Paar, John Denver, and Jane Morgan- who he eventually married in 1965. That same year, he formed Management III. The venture proved quite successful and he became a leading concert promoter for such acts as Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, Bob Dylan, Led Zeppelin, and the Beach Boys.
Weintraub's first two films as a producer were Robert Altman's Nashville (1975) and Oh, God! (1977). He went on to produce such films as Cruising (1980), Diner (1982), The Karate Kid (1984), Happy New Year (1987), Pure Country (1992), The Avengers (1998), and the Ocean's Eleven (2001-2007) trilogy, just to name a few.
In addition to films, Weintraub has also been involved in over 100 television shows or specials. In 1986, the National Association of Theater Owners named Jerry Weintraub the Producer of the Year. Weintraub was also one of the first independent film producers to be honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Weintraub's many philanthropic activities include the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Museum of Contemporary Art, the Music Center, and the Children's Museum.
