Scope and Content Note

Renaming of HOWARD D. TROOP to ANNIE M. REID, owned by Hind, Rolph & Company. Medley of four views. The upper left image shows the vessel at anchor, view off the starboard bow. The lower left image shows a group of people handling flags on board the vessel. The upper right image shows flags while raising. The lower right image view shows a Annie M. Reid Rolph breaking a bottle on top of a bitt on board the vessel with Captain Durkee looking on.
Identified in the lower left image in the background, left to right are Shouck, Edward Rainey (secretary to Rolph), San Francisco Chief of Police Thomas P. Walsh, Captain W.T. Lewis, George Hind, James Rolph Jr., daughter Annette Rolph, Mrs. Durkee, and Captain Durkee. In the foreground, left to right are two unknown ship's boys, daughter Georgina Rolph, son James Rolph III, and wife Annie M. Reid Rolph.
