Description
The collection contains grade books maintained by Fred L. Casmir for his classes in the Department of Speech at George Pepperdine College and the Division of Communications at Pepperdine University. Casmir taught a range of speech classes as well as German language classes. Grade books range in date from 1956 to 1982.
Background
Fred L. Casmir was born in 1928, and grew up in Germany. He was drafted into the Nazi Youth, then escaped by fleeing to the Danish border, and converted to Christianity. He received his Abitur degree in Germany, and after moving to the United States he earned a bachelor's degree in speech and religion from David Limpscomb College in 1950. He received a PhD in speech from the Ohio State University in 1961. Casmir served as a minister in the Churches of Christ from 1950 to 1977.
