The 1992 Los Angeles riots were a series of riots and civil disturbances that occurred in Los Angeles County in April and
May of 1992. Unrest began in South Central Los Angeles on April 29, after a jury acquitted four officers of the Los Angeles
Police Department charged with using excessive force in the arrest and beating of Rodney King.
South Central L.A.:Inside Voices (1994) was an American TV movie documentary of interviews and self-documentation of residents of South Central Los Angeles
in the aftermath of the 1992 Los Angeles Riots. Filmmakers Maxi Cohen and Wendy Apple distributed Hi-8 camcorders to members
of the community to capture their experiences.

South Central L.A.:Inside Voices (1994). Other formats in the collection are betacam, VHS, D2, 16mm film, and 35mm film. Languages represented in recordings
are English, Spanish, and Korean. Also present are project files, which include interview transcripts, expense records, memos,
and tax information.
The majority of materials are housed at the Grand Archive, while boxes 46-48 are housed at the Doheny Memorial Library.
