Abstract: Harry Wugalter was a United States Marine who served in Northern China from 1945-1947. The collection contains copies of photographs taken by Wugalter during his tour in China, and includes photographs of Marines, Japanese prisoners of war, Allied internees, and local Chinese and Russians who interacted with the troops. Also included is a letter written by Wugalter and published in the China Marine Association's newsletter, Scuttlebutt, about his time in China and reuniting with fellow North China Marines.

Biographical Information:

Harry Wugalter was a United States Marine, who enlisted at the age of 17, and served in North China from 1945-1947. While in China, he was stationed in Tientsin, Taku, and Peitaiho. He now lives in Arizona.

Scope and Contents

The Harry Wugalter Collection contains copies of photographs taken by Wugalter during his tour in China as a United States Marine, and includes photographs of Marines, Japanese prisoners of war, Allied internees, and local Chinese and Russians who interacted with the troops. Also included is a letter written by Wugalter and published in the China Marine Association's newsletter, Scuttlebutt, about his time in China and reuniting with fellow North China Marines.
