Description
The Roy A. Penn Etchings and Photoengravings Collection includes etchings and engraved prints collected by Penn. Both American and British engravers are represented in the collection, along with a smaller number of French and German works. The collection includes the work of George Barrie, John Chester Buttre, Capewell and Kimmel, John Cheney, Day and Son, A.L. Dick, Goupil and Company, H.B. Hall and Sons, Charles Theodosius Heath, F.A. Heath, Robert Hicks, Thomas Higham, Illman Brothers, A.H. Payne, Alexander Hay Ritchie, Roberts Brothers, John Rogers, Stephen Alonzo Schoff, John Talfourd Smyth, James Thomson, Wellstood and Peters, and James Tibbits Willmore. Print subjects include contemporary and historical portraits, scenes from paintings and stories, landscapes, interiors, and children. Several prints appear to come from magazines and books, including The Lady's Friend and Peterson's Magazine. Prints are arranged alphabetically by title.
