Historical Background
UCI Media is a non-profit recharge unit that supports the campus with a full range of video and media production services.
From 1968 to 1975 the unit was known as Instructional Media Services. In 1976 it became the Audiovisual Office - Student Affairs.
In 1984 the name changed to Media Services. In 1996 Media Services became a part of Undergraduate Studies and was placed under
Instructional Development Services and renamed DUE Media Services in the late 1990s. Around 2000 it was added to the Instructional
Resources Center (IRC) and renamed the Instructional Technology Center (ITC) to reflect the technology services. When the
Anteater Instructional Research Building (AIRB) opened, the IRC was renamed Classroom Technology Services (CTS) and split
from the ITC. The ITC was renamed Teaching and Learning Technology Center (TLTC), merged with part of the old IRC that incorporated
pedagogical development and training, and moved to the AIRB. In 2011 the video and media production aspects of the TLTC were
separated by Dean Sharon Salinger and the unit was renamed UCI Media.

Collection Scope and Content Summary
This collection consists of 227 video recordings which were wholly or partially produced by the UCI Media. They contain both
rough footage and completed productions of UCI events and subjects from 1965 to 2012.
Videotapes are described in the "Container List" by title, date, or year (if known), length of recording (minutes and seconds),
type of videotape (all are 3/4" video cassette), and whether the recording includes image or sound or both image and sound.
Digital materials are described in a file list inventory.
