Abstract: The Logbook for Voyages of Captain John A. May (SAFR 16502, HDC 224) documents a number of voyages on different vessels from
1851 to 1871. On the bark ROLLA James D. Bult kept the log on a voyage between San Francisco and Valparaiso carrying passengers
and cargo. Other voyages recorded were on the ship ZENOBIA from San Francisco to Sitka, on the brig OLGA from San Francisco
to Alaska, on the ship CESARAVITSCH between San Francisco and Alaska. This item is available for use without restriction.

The Logbook for Voyages of Captain John A. May (SAFR 16502, HDC 224) documents a number of voyages on different vessels from
1851 to 1871. On the bark ROLLA James D. Bult kept the log on a voyage between San Francisco and Valparaiso carrying passengers
and cargo. Other voyages recorded were on the ship ZENOBIA from San Francisco to Sitka, on the brig OLGA from San Francisco
to Alaska, on the ship CESARAVITSCH between San Francisco and Alaska. This item is available for use without restriction.
The first eleven pages have newspaper clippings glued over the log entries. One of these, dated 1853, mentions the threat
to the Earth from a comet. An entry dated October 21, 1852 describes violence on board when the cook threw boiling coffee
in the mate's face and hot water at the captain. The cook was put in irons. On the vessels arrival in Valparaiso, all hands
were discharged and new hands hired.
