The collection contains interviews conducted by faculty, staff, and students from Cal Poly Pomona about the history of the university, including interviews about the Voorhis School for Boys and the Voorhis Unit in San Dimas, which were on the land that eventually became the first campus of Cal Poly Pomona; the development of the Kellogg campus in Pomona; the hiring of the first female faculty members at Cal Poly Pomona in 1957; the Cal Poly Women's Club; and the university's athletics programs. The interviews are on various formats including 1/4 inch audio tape, audiocassette, compact disc, and in written form as transcripts. Some of the interviews were combined with other interviews in this collection when they were duplicated onto other formats.

Virginia Adair was one of the first female faculty members hired at Cal Poly Pomona, then known as Cal Poly Kellogg-Voorhis, in 1957. Adair taught English at the university until 1980 and later became a nationally recognized poet. Scope and Contents

James M. Griffin was a student at the Cal Poly Voorhis Unit, Cal Poly's first southern campus in San Dimas. He also taught in the Ornamental Horticulture department at the Voorhis Unit and, later, the Kellogg Campus until 1969. In addition to his teaching responsibilities, Griffin was responsible for Cal Poly's annual Rose Parade float entry from 1949 to to 1956. The interview was conducted by student Guy E. Cloutman, Jr.
