    Abstract: Sidney Lens was born in 1912 in New Jersey to Charles and Sophie Okun, Russian Jewish immigrants who came to the United States in 1907. His birth name was Sidney Okun. Lens married Shirley Ruben, a Chicago public school teacher, in 1946. Lens was an American labor leader, political activist, and author. The collection consists of photographs, some mounted, by Sidney Lens. Lens is depicted in some of the photographs.
