This collection contains correspondence from Waldemar Scherer to his son Sgt. Richard P. Scherer, USMC, and one scrapbook
of letters written to Waldemar's newpaper column.
Background
Waldemar P. Scherer (12/8/1889 - 5/16/1970) was born in Mankato, Minnesota to his parents George William Scherer and Minna
Manderfeld. He remained living there and married Wilamine "Minnie" Hanson in 1916. They had five children; Robert, William,
Richard, Betty, and Waldemar, Jr.
