The Jay T. Last Collection of Fairs and Expositions
Prints and Ephemera contains more than 1,965 printed items that relate to fairs,
exhibitions, expositions, and other similar gatherings and events in the United
States from 1834 to 1970, with the bulk of material pertaining to the United States
Centennial Exhibition held in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 1876. The collection
consists of advertising prints, promotional ephemera, business records, and illustrations produced for specific events,
for exhibitors at these events, and for businesses that provided collateral services to event-goers including food, lodging,
and transportation.
Restrictions
The Huntington Library does not require that researchers request permission to quote from or publish images of this material,
nor does it charge fees for such activities.
The responsibility for identifying the copyright holder, if there is one, and obtaining necessary permissions rests with the
researcher.
