    The state's Council of Defense reported to the Council of National Defense in Washington. The Women's Committee operated within the state council.

Correspondence, reports, receipts and cancelled checks. Ledger; activity book, June 1917-January 1919; checkbook, 1919. Pamphlets and other ephemera. The State Council worked on domestic issues during the war years, including Americanization; child welfare; food administration; education; educational propaganda; girls war service; health and recreation; home economics; information and library; liberty loans; publicity; Red Cross; social agencies; and women in industry.
