Abstract: The materials in this collection pertain to the activities of the Hyink family (parents Lawrence Hyink, Jr. (1923-2014) and
Jordice "Jordy" Hyink, and their son Lawrence Hyink, III) during the 1968-1969 student strike at San Francisco State College.
Both parents served on the Parents Strike Support Committee. Lawrence Hyink Jr. served as the chairman for the committee.
Lawrence III was an enrolled student at SFSC and participated in strike activities. The collection consists of fliers, correspondence,
newspaper clippings, and documents produced by the Parents Strike Support Committee.

Three items unrelated to the 1968 SF State College Strike have been separated: Two issues of the San Francisco Examiner July
22, 1969 and July 24, 1969) and one issue of the San Francisco Chronicle (July 22, 1969) pertaining to the Apollo space mission
have been relocated to the flat file drawer number 4.
The Hyink Family Papers (accession # asc.2105.08) were gifted as a donation from Ann DiNapoli and Jordy Ann Hyink to San Francisco
State University's University Archives on July 23, 2015.

The Hyink family resided in San Mateo, Calif., during the 1968-1969 student strike at San Franciso State College. Lawrence
Hyink, Jr. (1923-2014) was chairman of the Parents Strike Support Committee. Jordice "Jordy" Hyink was also involved in the
support committee. Their son, Lawrence Hyink, III, was a student at SFSC during the strike. The Parents Strike Support Committee
was formed to support the legal defense of students involved in strike activities. Hyink Jr. was a native of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a member of the 149th Army Airways Communication System Wing in Chengdu,
China. He moved to San Mateo, California where he was a teacher at Aragon High School in San Mateo from 1960 until his retirement
in 1986.
