Description
This collection contains photographs and memorabilia relating to SSgt. Robert D. Mumaugh, USA during and after the Second World War. Included are photographs of SSgt. Mumaugh and a drawn picture, military documents as well as documents and memorabilia from his leave in Switzerland and Belgium.
Background
Staff Sergeant Robert Darst Mumaugh, United States Army (7/8/1913 - 5/26/1974) was born in Michigan and lived in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was ordered to report for induction on May 15, 1943 in Indianapolis and served in the 210th and 3037th Quartermaster Bakery Company in the European Theater during the Second World War. After the war, he was given leave and enjoyed the sites in Switzerland and Belgium while stationed in the Berlin Sector. He was married to Nina Lucile Mumaugh neé Summers, who was the sister of Signalman Second Class Harold Edgar Summers, United States Navy (1919 - 12/7/1941) who was killed on the USS Arizona during the attack on Pearl Harbor (2018-164-w-r).
