Biography

Webster Treat (1827-?) was a fruit, nut, and grape grower in Yolo and Contra Costa counties in the late 19th century. He was born in Maine and moved to California in 1847.

Scope and Contents

Davisville, California: A personal letter by Webster Treat (1827 - ?), fruit, nut, and grapegrower in Yolo and Contra Costa counties in the late 19th century, who had been born in Maine and had moved to California in 1847. Writing to his cousin, Treat spoke of finances and commented on the 1885 Act of Congress, regarding French Spoliation Claims, noting that he was interested in that development, as his grandfather had lost two ships to the French.
