of California.

Scope and Content of Collection
The Richard and Gloria Santillán Collection – Papers, Documents, Clippings, Newsletters and Journals contains the personal
papers and research files of Dr. Richard Santillán, a longtime professor, activist and advocate for the Mexican-American community
of California. This collection’s topical coverage is extensive, as well as its depth. Represented within are materials related
to Dr. Santillán’s scholarly work; organizational and research files collected by Dr. Santillán containing information on
a wide range of topics, mostly related to the Mexican-American and Latino communities; coverage of the Chicano movement, political
organizing and community advocacy; Dr. Santillán’s professional and professorial career; topical focuses include the formation
of the city of East Los Angeles, Education, Immigration, and the MEChA (Movimiento Estudiantil Chicanx de Aztlán) and UMAS
(United Mexican American Students) organizations; and periodicals and news clippings.
