Scope and Content of Collection
The Collection consists of an album of postcards that were sent to members of the Rifetto family of Port Costa, or collected
by the family members, during the mid-1900s. The postcards show tourist attractions from all over the world. Some of the
postcards have postmarks on them, but some do not have postmarks, addresses, or any marks on them, indicating they were collected
rather than received in the mail. The postcard album also includes a few handwritten letters. The album was donated by Lilian
Smithson of El Sobrante in 2018. At the time of this writing (August 27, 2019), we do not have information on L. Rifetto
or the Rifetto family, or Lilian Smithson. The postcard collection appears to be out of field, since the postcards do not
show any destinations in Contra Costa County.
