Scope and Contents

Turk Murphy, Don Kinch, Bill Napier, and Monte Ballou are definitely on the recording. Other personnel are not confirmed, and neither is the date or venue. Date is probably between 1951 and 1953. Venue may possibly be the Italian Village in San Francisco, Greenwich Village in Palo Alto or the Last Frontier in Las Vegas. Kinch and Ballou were members of the Portland, Oregon-based Castle Jazz Band. The seven-piece band that performs "Sunset Cafe' Stomp" and "See See Rider" following the Turk Murphy tracks is unidentified.
