Physical Description: 30 videocassette (vhs).

Scope and Contents

30 VHS tapes from the KSCI Channel 18 interview series titled "LA Seoul." The interviewer, Young Kim, conducted the video interviews in Korean over the course of a few years. The interview subjects were Korean Americans with various backgrounds.

This material was added to the Joseph Cho papers as part of accrual no. 2022-003, which was found in East Asian Library storage in March of 2022.

Three VHS tapes documenting the Korean American rally for Korean democratization in Ardmore Park in Los Angeles. Joseph Cho was one of the organizers of the event, which had approximately 7000 participants.

Processing Information

The VHS tapes described here were found separate from the rest of the collection in December of 2021. Joy Kim, Curator, Korean Heritage Library, coordinated the digitization of some of the VHS tapes in this box. At the time that these tapes were added to the collection, the digital surrogates for these tapes had not yet been published on the USC Digital Library site.

The series collected from Northeast China (given to Joseph Cho while he was studying at the Yanbian University). It contains three sub-series including 4 volumes of Korean folksongs (total 570 pages), 5 volumes of independence fight songs (total 1018 pages), and 2 volumes of biographies about Korean independence activists in Manchuria (total 218 pages).
