Biographical Note
Soviet journalist and politician; member of the Supreme Soviet, 1989-1991.
Scope and Content of Collection
Correspondence with members of the Soviet public and supporting material relating to social issues in the Soviet Union, and
especially to effects of the Chernobyl nuclear accident. Issues reflected in the correspondence include improving living quarters,
help in acquiring transportation (especially for handicapped persons), legal aid, sanitary problems, improprieties and corruption
in the distribution of deficit goods, pensions, acquiring access to telephones and phone lines, employment, medical care,
and religious issues.
