Description
The collection contains documents, clippings, and newsletters collected by Ralph Fertig over the course of his work as a bicycling advocate.
Background
Ralph Fertig (1939-2014), spokesperson for bicycle related issues in the City of Santa Barbara, was a founding member of the Santa Barbara Bicycling Coalition and creator of the Coalition's newsletter Quick Release. An advocate for bike lanes and hiking trails, Fertig was a founding member of Grassroots 101, and a member of ad hoc committees advising the city in the adoption of Santa Barbara's Circulation Element.
