Background
Gerber emigrated from Hildesheim, Hanover, Germany in 1930. He, his wife Catherine, and their children settled in Oceano.
He served as the town doctor for approximately 25 years and treated the local Dunites for medical concerns as well. He designed
and built the family's craftsman bungalow style home, office, and garden, which became known for its landscape and rare roses.
