    Biographical / Historical

    Donald Everett Schwarzer, son of Albert J. (a veteran of WWI) and Dorothy Schwarzer, was born in 1924 in New York. He went to Brooklyn Technical High School and attended Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute. He entered the service in 1942 and was appointed an aviation cadet in 1943. He trained at several airfields, including Dorr Field, and was commissioned 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Air Force in May 1944. He flew the Consolidated B-24 Liberator bomber with the Eighth Air Force 392nd Heavy Bomb group. He was awarded an Air Medal (and later a Purple Heart) and flew missions over continental Europe including at least 23 over Germany, Poland, Belgium, Holland, Norway, and France.
    He was honorably discharged April 26, 1951 and entered the Air Reserve in 1953.

    Scope and Contents

    Collection consist of 1 box 10” X 2.5” X 15”, containing letters, photographs, and personal correspondence with parents, as well as official military records and correspondence.
