Background
Charles J. Tanenbaum (d. 2009) was a lawyer, philanthropist, book collector, and exhibit curator. He served for over fifty
years in the Jewish Foundation for Education of Women, spending time as both President and Chairman, and was active with the
American Jewish Philanthropic Fund and the International Rescue Committee, where he was very involved with refugee issues.
He was an avid donor and established several awards and fellowships at various institutions.
