    Administrative/Biographical History

Joe Hayman was an American comedian in British films. He worked in vaudeville with his wife, Mildred Franklin and became known for his "Cohen on the telephone" monologue.

    Scope and Contents

Collection consists of 3 scrapbooks that include photographs of family, performers, and productions, programs of shows and films, and newspaper clippings. Notably includes some notes from Harry Houdini, anti-Hitler newspaper articles from the 1940s, and the entire Los Angeles Times newspaper from August 15, 1945. Hayman became famous because of his Cohen on the telephone skits, but there is almost nothing about that; more about his overall career.
