Fred Roos is an American producer. Roos was one of the producers of HAMMETT (1982). HAMMETT, based on
the book by Joe Gores, was German New Wave director Wim Wenders's first American film.
Collection Scope and Content Summary
The Fred Roos collection of HAMMETT script material spans the years 1975-1981 and encompasses 2.2
linear feet. The collection consists of more than 30 scripts accumulated by one of the film's producers,
Fred Roos, that document various writers' adaptations of Joe Gores's novel from first draft to shooting
script. Screenwriters include Joe Gores, Dennis O'Flaherty, Thomas Pope, and Ross Thomas. There are also
memos from director Wim Wenders.
