    Biography

    Jules Furthman was an American screenwriter. During World War I he wrote for magazines and newspapers under the name "Stephen Fox." In Hollywood, he wrote for more than 100 motion pictures, including more than a dozen screenplays for films directed by Josef von Sternberg and Howard Hawks. He was nominated for an Academy Award for writing the screenplay for MUTINY IN THE BOUNTY (1935).
