    Content Description

This collection contains one letter from George [last name unknown] to Otto [Hardt?] during the Second World War. The letter was written from Davis-Monthan Field in Tuscon, Arizona and describes George's training as a navigator on B-24 bombers during the first of three phases of combat training; heavy bombardment. George also mentions that a plane went down, "crashed and burned up about a week ago. Only myself, the bombardier, and guy that AWOL were missing from the crew that day." He asks about Otto's business and mentions he has been in the Army for about a year and has yet to take a photograph due to camera restrictions on the bases to which he has been assigned, but he likes Army life "pretty well."
According to the donor, George was an employee of Otto's driving tee (golf) business in Minnesota.
