Scope and Contents

The diaries of Lois Seeman document her life over a period of 1940 - 1942 in National City [San Diego] California, pre-World War II. Her diaries describe her thoughts, as a young teenage girl, boyfriends, girlfriends, senior year in high school, graduation, first job, and the beginning of the Second World War. She describes her parents divorce [her mother is only 34 years old in 1940] and notes the relationship issues within her family. The diaries also illustrate the hardship, as all her circle of regular boyfriends enlist and go to war.  Both diaries are handwritten, bound journals.
