Description
Manuscript lecture notes recorded by medical student Edmund Sheppard for a course given by Benjamin Rush in Philadelphia in 1812. The lectures are from the same year of Rush's publication of his Diseases of the mind; there is a substantial section in the lectures devoted to this topic, in volume 1. Title pages are dated 1812, but some notes dated 1813 are added. Volume 2 is written with a more hurried hand and includes some revisions during transcription. Text is written chiefly on recto of each leaf. Laid-in, at end of volume 2: "First lines of the practice of physic", a handwritten outline in [16] unnumbered, unbound pages.
