Divided into five subseries: Founding Documents and Administration, Establishing Grants, Programs and Projects, Reports, Guides and Writings. This series shows the early stages of the development of DREDF, as it started to gain independence from the Center for Independent Living. Included are correspondence, by-laws and articles of incorporation, information about the grants establishing the separate Disability Law Resource Center in CIL, early projects and reports and writings by staff. Since several projects started by DLRC were continued by DREDF, additional projects can be found under the Grant Projects series. DLRC newsletters are in Series 4.

The request for tax-exempt status includes information about starting a litigation selection committee, 1989-1990. The General Administration subseries includes general correspondence and memos relating to DREDF administration and projects, financial statements and personnel policies.
