Content Description

This collection was donated by The Book Shop, LLC, a bookseller operating in Covina, California. The collection contains an assortment of letters written by various authors spanning from 1916 to 1977. A majority of the authors were servicemen writing during wartime, but there are also some letters written by civilians during the interwar period of the First and Second World Wars.
It is unknown if there is any relation between the authors and recipients of one series to the authors and recipients of another series.

Serviceman Thomas David Haddon, (rank and branch of service unknown) wrote to his wife, Florence Haddon during, the First World War.
U.S. Navy serviceman (rank unknown) Earl Haddon, son of Thomas David Haddon, wrote to Mrs. John W. Nelson during the Second World War.
The series also contains Thomas David Haddon's Register of Deeds card, dated May 20, 1952, and a poem titled "Little Things" by a man named Vernon L. Tebo.

Serviceman (rank unknown) Jack E. Laracy, U.S. Navy, wrote letters to Marie McGrath while he was on board the USS Hunter Liggett.

A majority of the series was written by Carval Busey from 1934 to 1935. One letter was written by Darwin Kirby, Jr., dated October 1, 1934. One postcard was written by Maurice Cragun, dated October 7, 1934. One letter was written by Robert E. Ryan, dated June 2, 1940.
